Past Successes
Some of Our 2011 Successes:
- Made & distributed 3,120 meals to the homeless.
- Collected & distributed 2,000 pounds of toiletries.
- Collected 5,600+ articles of clothing & blankets (in the process of distributing them).
- Collected 7,757 pounds of food and $18,956 for local food banks & outreach.
- Ran H4H program at Rolling Hills Attendance Recovery Day.
- Continued program for a special education Career Experience class at a local high school.
- Collaborated with the youth at Wind Youth Services on 5 outreach and 2 team-building events.
- Assisted Green Valley Community Church, an El Dorado County Food Bank outlet, with serving meals and distributing food and clothing to 150-200 individuals on 24 separate occasions.
- Organized activities for and ran Kid’s Café at Green Valley Community Church, a youth program offering the children of clients a safe place to do crafts and play games with older youth mentors. Hands4Hope runs this Café twice each month.
- Collected over 3,000 items and 100 letters for care packages to be sent to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our youth worked with the Honor Our Troops Committee to pack and mail these boxes.
- Represented Vision Coalition of El Dorado Hills at REACH Leadership Camp with 5 youth and 1 adult.
- Represented Vision Coalition of El Dorado Hills at National Teen Leadership Program Camp with 5 youth, including 2 teens from Wind and 1 from White Rock Village.
- Hosted our first H4H Club Leadership Retreat with 13 youth from 4 different high schools in attendance.
- Started Hands4Hope clubs at 4 local high schools and 2 middle schools, increasing the number of youth able to be involved in the decision making, planning, and implementation of outreach activities
- Made 75 fleece, no-sew blankets. (We will be distributing them on the streets & to youth agencies this month).
- Conducted the 2nd Annual Hands4Hope Haunted House at Town Center, kicking it off with a Premier Dinner. An additional 1,000 people went through the Haunted House this year and we double the number of attendees at our dinner. Both events were a great success.
- Opening a Winter Boutique at Town Center with the clothes from the fall drives benefiting foster families and families in need of assistance. (The Boutique will be open the 17th & 27th)
- Purchased t-shirts, underwear, socks, sleeping bags, tarps, hats, gloves for our winter outreach distribution to kids in need and the homeless.
- Were chosen as the beneficiary of the El Dorado Hills Rotary Club Crab Feed.
- Mentored 3 service learning students in the spring and 2 in the fall from Oak Ridge High School.
- Logged over 5,000 youth volunteer hours.
2010 Successes – Our Youth In Action
- Made & distributed 3,170 meals to the homeless.
- Collected & distributed 2,000 pounds of toiletries.
- Collected & distributed 4,000+ articles of clothing & blankets.
- Collected 9,656 pounds of food and $14,524 for local food banks & outreach.
- Developed program for Attendance Recovery Days at local public schools.
- Developed program for a special education Career Experience class at a local high school.
- Collaborated with the youth at Wind Youth Services on 6 outreach and 2 team-building events.
- Assisted Green Valley Community Church, an El Dorado County Food Bank outlet, with serving meals and distributing food and clothing to 150-200 individuals on 24 separate occasions.
- Worked with Green Valley Community Church to start the Kid’s Café, a youth program, offering the children of clients a safe place to do crafts and play games with older youth mentors. Hands4Hope runs this Café twice each month and serves an average of 20 children every Saturday the Café is open.
- Planned and hosted 12 birthday parties, celebrating the birthdays of 48 at-risk youth.
- Provided emergency snacks to local elementary schools for children in need.
- Hosted a Community Career Day for Youth at a local affordable housing development, with 12 careers represented and 80 youth in attendance.
- Collected over 3,100 items and 150 letters for care packages to be sent to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our youth worked with the Honor Our Troops Committee to pack and mail these boxes.
- Represented Vision Coalition of El Dorado Hills at REACH Leadership Camp with 8 youth and 2 adults.
- Made 75 fleece, no-sew blankets and distributed them on the streets to those in need.
- Conducted our first major fundraiser, the Hands4Hope Haunted House at Town Center. The event was a huge success both as a community event and as a fundraiser.
- Opened a Winter Boutique at Town Center with the clothes from the fall drives benefiting foster families and families in need of assistance. 1,300 pieces of clothing and accessories were distributed.
- Purchased and distributed 80 tarps, 40 sleeping bags.
- Conducted 2 meetings and 2 events with the El Dorado Hills Boys & Girls Club Torch Club.
- Paired a youth and adult to represent Hands4Hope in the planning of the 2010 Regional Youth Development Conference; 3 youth and 1 adult attended the all-day event.
- Were chosen as the beneficiary of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce Charity Golf Tournament.
- Mentored 4 service learning students in the spring and 3 in the fall from Oak Ridge High School.

2009, An Amazing Year!!!
- Made & distributed 1,500 meals to the homeless;
- Collected & distributed 2,000 pounds of toiletries and 2,500 articles of clothing & blankets;
- Collected 5,047 pounds of food and $12,500 for local food banks & outreach;
- Developed public school programs for local outreach;
- Developed youth peer mentoring program & pen pal program;
- Advocated for the youth of WIND (homeless & foster youth) to partner with H4H youth in outreach programs, completing 10 programs together in 2009;
- Assisted Green Valley Community Church, an El Dorado County Food Bank outlet, with serving meals and distributing food to 150-300 individuals on 24 separated occasions;
- Planned and hosted 12 monthly birthday parties for children at a local affordable housing complex;
- Provided beds and bedding to four families in need and 12 pillows to the Powerhouse Ministries Transition Center;
- Collected 1,800 items & 220 letters for care packages to be sent to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan via the local VFW;
- Made 30 fleece, no-sew blankets to be distributed to those in need;
- Conducted four fundraisers, separate of Change4Hope, to raise funds for programs – raising over $7,000;
- Hosted a panel discussion on homelessness (our guest speakers all previously or currently homeless);
- Hosted guest speakers at H4H team meetings including representatives from WIND, New Morning Shelter, Powerhouse Ministries, and the Honor Our Troops Committee.
