Adult Lead Spotlight: Inga Buckendorf

Hands4Hope selected Inga as this month's Adult Lead Spotlight for the continued support and encouragement she offers our organization. From mentoring the Oak Ridge Veterans' Committee to leading the Creekside Senior Dinner and assisting with fundraisers and benefit events, Inga has done it all!

How long have you been participating with Hands4Hope?

I have been participating with Hands4Hope since it began in 2008.

Why did you join Hands4Hope?

Initially, I joined H4H because my two daughters volunteered (now adults ages 26 and 23), and it made sense to stay and help at the outreaches/events rather than just drop them off. And as I became familiar with all the fantastic things volunteers do and the lives they touch, I got more and more involved in the organization. My husband started volunteering as well; it turned into something we could do together as a family.

What outreaches do you usually volunteer with? Which do you enjoy the most?

Over the years, I have participated as a volunteer, mentor, advisor, and adult lead; and I served on various committees and as a board member. While I’ve participated in the majority of outreaches, events, and drives I enjoy volunteering monthly at Creekview Senior Dinner the most. The outreach was started by one of my daughters, and it is near and dear to my heart. The residents at Creekview truly appreciate the warm meals and good company the youth provide.

What is your impression/experience with Hands4Hope youth?

The youth volunteers at H4H continuously amaze me. They are committed to actively engage in these meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the community and while doing so they are developing a greater understanding of the world around them, becoming more compassionate. They inspire ME!

Overall, what has your experience been like since joining?

I can’t say enough good things about H4H and the youth volunteers.
