20th Annual Placerville Empty Bowls Event

Hands4Hope volunteers helped distribute over 200 meals at the 20th annual Placerville Empty Bowls Event on October 9th, 2020.  This dinner event was one of many mini virtual and in person events planned by the Empty Bowls Committee during the months of October and November. Their goal is to raise a total of $30,000.

Chef John Sanders and his team from Old Town Grill partnered with the Empty Bowls committee as part of his Friday Night Dinner For A Cause events to help raise funds for the organizations supported by the Empty Bowls Committee.  The dinner event exceeded their expectations! Chef Sanders said it was the most to-go meals they have ever prepared. In addition to the meals, the event also sold soup bowls made by students and professional local artists.  These bowls were created to remind us of all the people who are food insecure in our community and in the world.

The funds raised through the mini Empty Bowls events will benefit the Upper Room in Placerville which is a non-profit organization that serves over 300 meals each day to those who are hungry. The event will also benefit   The Andean Alliance, Children’s Hope Alliance, and the Earth’s Angels which are all international organizations.
