Hands4Hope Student Internship Available


Calling all high school students who would like the opportunity to gain valuable skills, help your community and have fun! Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference is seeking a Student Intern for our Placerville Youth Center. *All youth in 11th-12th grades interested in learning how to organize, oversee and implement projects and outreaches that benefit the greater Placerville community should apply. *Residence of Placerville/the Greater Placerville area will be given priority.


Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference Student Internships provide youth the opportunity to:

  • Develop and refine skills in communication, leadership and budget and project management

  • Gain practical work experience

  • Gain confidence and interpersonal skills

  • Learn more about the needs in your community

  • Meet new people and make new friends

  • Earn community service hours


Placerville Student Internship

Time Commitment: 30 hours beginning in November and ending in June, the schedule is flexible.


Role: The Placerville Student Intern under direction and guidance of the Community Engagement Coordinator and/or Adult Mentor will assist with bringing Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference annual drives (e.g. toiletries drive) to the greater Placerville area. In addition, the Placerville Student Intern will assist with the setup and maintenance of the new Placerville Youth Center and Food Pantry.


Under direction and guidance the responsibilities of the Placerville Student Intern are:

  • Help coordinate the blue bin collection of food, toiletries and other important resources through local businesses, churches and other local organizations.

  • Attend and engage in planning meetings with various organizations and businesses.

  • Track collection progress including but not limited to: timeline, event dates, supplies collected, and event details.

  • Sort, count and help distribute collected items.

  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of the new Placerville Youth Center and Food Pantry.


Student Intern & Leader Agreement:

As a Student Intern Applicant, I agree:

  • To adhere to the agreed upon meeting times, objectives, and all deadlines

  • To keep and event plans and/or timelines up to date and share them with the adult mentor

  • To follow all Hands4Hope guidelines and the intern role and responsibilities

  • To communicate with my adult mentor a timely manner

  • To be teachable - listening to and considering input and guidance from my mentor

  • To not be perfect - this is a learning opportunity and it is ok for mistakes to be made, as long as they are personally acknowledged and addressed with help from the mentor/committee as soon as identified

  • I understand that the quality of completion of this Internship (excellent, acceptable, or unacceptable) will be noted and considered for any future Hands4Hope leadership opportunities as well as reference requests

  • That I may be removed from the Internship if I do not follow the guidelines and/or fulfill my role and responsibilities
