Youth committee members, youth leaders, and Adult Mentor volunteers are wanted for the 2025 Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference School Supply Committee! The committee will work on collecting school supplies and planning the 12th annual distribution to benefit children in need.
The School Supply Drive Committee is led by and comprised of youth in grades 7-12, with the support of Adult Mentor volunteers and Hands4Hope staff. The committee begins meeting in early June and meets regularly throughout the summer. Participants learn about the needs of students and set goals for collections, then reach out to businesses and others to request and coordinate supply collection drives. Participants facilitate and host collection events within the community including the "Stuff the Bus" event, and also engage in marketing and media promotion. Participants count and sort donated items and assess what is needed to reach collection goals. Participants determine the layout and design of the School Supply Distribution event, coordinate with additional service-provider vendors, and manage the number and roles of volunteers needed to run that event smoothly. Participants assess any remaining items after the distribution event and disburse them to partner schools and agencies.
