Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference proudly celebrates the incredible success of the 2026 Kids Zone at the El Dorado Hills Town Center Fireworks & Freedom Concert on July 3. Thanks to the dedication of youth leaders, adult mentors, volunteers, sponsors, the local community and favorable weather, this year's event was one of the most successful Kids Zone events to date.

Families from across the community enjoyed a fun-filled, family-friendly experience featuring activities for children of all ages. Young children visited the Tiny Tots area, where volunteers helped them enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, and interactive games designed especially for little ones. Older children and families enjoyed exciting attractions including inflatable bounce houses, giant slides, obstacle courses, and the popular jousting ring, all safely supervised by dedicated volunteers throughout the day. The event day operations were handled by the hard work of 36 incredible volunteers, who gave their time and energy to ensure every activity ran smoothly. Volunteers welcomed families, supervised attractions, assisted with games, managed activity stations, and helped create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance.

The true success of Kids Zone wasn't measured only by the record-breaking 602 wristbands sold, more than $24,000 raised, or hundreds of families who enjoyed the event . The more valuable measurement is by the skill-building growth in the young leaders who made it all possible. The 2026 Kids Zone Committee brought together 14 youth leaders, each contributing their unique talents to create one of the event's most successful years to date. Nearly half were participating on a Hands4Hope committee for the very first time, including participants as young as sixth grade. The other half of the committee were returnees, bringing the lessons learned and expertise they gained from their past Kids Zone Committee experiences to the table. The committee was led by Hands4Hope alumna Gabby Dailey, whose own journey began as a youth participant. Her leadership demonstrates the lasting impact of Hands4Hope's youth-driven model—where today's participants become tomorrow's mentors, inspiring the next generation of young leaders to discover their own potential.

Together, these new and returning leaders created a powerful cycle of mentorship, collaboration, and growth. Experienced committee members shared their knowledge and encouraged emerging leaders, while first-time participants gained the confidence and skills to take on meaningful responsibility. Over months of planning, youth worked alongside adult mentors and Hands4Hope staff to manage finances, secure sponsors, coordinate volunteers, market the event, and oversee every detail, developing real-world leadership skills that will extend far beyond Kids Zone. This blend of fresh perspectives, returning leadership, and authentic youth ownership reflects Hands4Hope's mission of empowering young people to become compassionate, capable leaders who inspire others and strengthen their communities for years to come.

As Project Manager and Hands4Hope alumna Gabby Dailey shared, "It was so much fun to be back this year as an adult! It was great seeing friends and new youth and helping them plan this event together. The committee worked hard and turned Kid Zone into an amazing event. I'm so proud of everyone that helped plan it and thankful for all their hard work!"

Adult volunteer Jerriann Leach, who was serving as a Committee Adult Mentor for the first time said, "The most important thing I have learned through my involvement in the Kids Zone Committee is how independent and capable the youth leaders and participants are. It has been rewarding to see their initiative and willingness to contribute. It is clear that Hands4Hope reinforces the importance of empowering the youth by providing a safe space for everyone to be creative and share their ideas."

Overall, the success of the 2026 Kids Zone contributes more than $20,000 toward Hands4Hope's youth education and leadership programs, empowering young people to continue helping those in need now while building skills for their future.

Hands4Hope extends its sincere appreciation to every volunteer, sponsor, community partner, committee member, adult lead, and family who helped make the 2026 Kids Zone such an unforgettable success. Together, their support will continue to inspire and empower youth leaders while strengthening educational opportunities throughout the community.
