Community Engagement Program: Outreach Updates

The Project Birthday Committee hosted its most recent birthday celebration on Friday, January 25th,at the White Rock Village Apartments. The committee celebrated the birthdays of two children and surprised them with cake, presents, and party games. The Project Birthday Committee plans to continue hosting birthday parties throughout the rest of the semester.

The Homeless Outreach Committee has been hard at work these last few months raising money for their events this semester. They just finished their first outreach on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and distributed all 450 lunches and toiletries they put together at the Sandwich Making Party! Their next outreach is coming up on Monday, February 18th.

The Youth Board wrapped up Carriage Rides that took place in Town Center the first three weekends in December and raised a little over $1,000! They are now gearing up for their annual spring fundraiser, Seeds of Hope. This year, they have chosen to benefit New Morning Youth and Family Services, an incredible shelter and program dedicated to providing essential social services to troubled youth and their families.

The Kids’ Oasis Committee hosts the Kids’ Oasis every second and fourth Saturday of the month at Green Valley Community Church. The committee, led by Chloe Simon and Jena Brasil, is currently seeking new members since Chloe will be graduating in May. The committee will also begin discussing fundraising options for the coming program year to continue supporting this event.

The MAPS Committee (Montessori Autism Programs and Services) is working on building a stage for the children at their facility. This is such a fun and rewarding committee that pairs our volunteers with the children at MAPS to work on projects, arts and crafts, and skill-building.

It’s not too late to join! Did any of these committees stand out to you? Want to learn more about these diverse opportunities? Check out hands4hopeyouth.org/copy-of-outreach-events!
